I'll overwhelm 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout fight which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants met personally to promote the upcoming bout.

Ex two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's my intention."

Civil Exchange

Despite those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically famous for his theatrics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized ex Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a fight offer.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer stated.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's greatest financial successes, consistently making huge paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters met for the customary face-off, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is truly happening.
